BrainRaps.com Today's Date:
Time:
I have listened to, and dig about every Fugees album ever released. However an album just doesn't sound right unless you can hear it on vinyl(especially hip-hop). I would love to see the Fugees re-release "The Score" on a 12 inch double LP with maybe a couple bonus tracks for there hardcore fans. Hopefully someone with the power to make that happen, reads this and thinks it sounds like a good idea too! |

| Wyclef Talks about possible Fugees reunion in OZONE mag |
OZONE caught up with Wyclef after a show in Orlando and he broke it down like this....
Going back a few years, when the Fugees were together, how would you break down, you know, what each group member was responsible for? I mean, by now I really shouldn’t have to say. With all the music that’s come out since, you should really be able to figure out by now what Wyclef did in the group, what Lauryn did in the group. I’m trying to see another Fugee album, so I don’t want no complications. Me and my cousin Jerry Wonder, we dealt with a lot of production. Me, you know I’m the hook man. How many mics do we rip on the daily, call Mr. Martin.
So you want the group to get back together? When they see me, people always ask, “Will there be another Fugees album?” I say I don’t know, but I hope there’s another trio. I wanna do it, so let’s go.
Have you reached out to Lauryn and Pras to try to make that happen? I reached out telepathically, we’ve got a little ESP thing going.
But just recently, you dissed Pras onstage at a show in Miami. It’s all hallucination. When we sit back, we hallucinate. I’m saying it’s just a hallucination because my battle rhyme is just that: a battle rhyme. He went at me and whatever. I ain’t say that he didn’t write what he said he wrote, I was just clowning him on the record because it was fun. And when I called him Milli Vanilli, I don’t mean that he lipsynched, or that he didn’t write his lyrics. It’s just a battle, so I brought it to the block on some freestyle shit, that’s all it is.
You’ve got this track called “Industry,” condemning all the beefs going on in the industry, but at the same time, you’re beefing with Pras? To understand war, you’ve got to come from war. To bring peace, there first has to be war. It all started with “Fake Ass Pras,” and when I did that song, I reflected to myself, and my man Buggah was like, “Yo, you can’t be like that, you always that nigga, that preacher’s son.” Then I caught myself. That’s why in the song I say, “Sometimes when I sleep, when I wake up / I kinda hope the Fugees didn’t break up.” So from a negative, I was able to flip it into a positive.
Some people have sort of blamed you for the Fugees breaking up, as far as you not being considerate for Lauryn’s feelings and things like that. Basically, you saw me in “Making the Band,” right? You could either make the band, or not make the band. You could either make the song, or you could not make the song. It’s that simple. Being in the studio, I was definitely a drill sergeant. I don’t have time to play. If you gonna come, be ready for it, cause there’s a billion trying to eat in your spot. That’s how I attack the studio, and once I leave the studio, I’m grindin’, I’m buggin’ out. So I didn’t have no problems with Lauryn at all, because she’s a drill sergeant herself. We got along because all we liked to do was the music.
A lot of people are wondering about Lauryn’s state of mind right now. I just think that a person’s work should be judged by their skill. Not by one album, not by two albums, not by just one year. I think that with Lauryn, you’re going to have to review the bulk of her work in a twenty-year span before you can make an accurate observation. I think what’s dope about her is that she describes what she’s going through on her up days and her down days. She expresses things for a crowd that doesn’t have a voice. In general, I think Lauryn represents everyone because “Miseducation” was a serious album, and the acoustic album was another deep album, but it still sold a million copies. So there’s a lot of people that search for that kind of music. So I’m assuming that your new album is dedicated to your father? Yeah, it’s named after my dad. I took a year and a half mourning the death of my father, so “The Preacher’s Son” is a resurrection. After a dark day you can have a bright day. It’s just taking all the positive stuff my dad taught me. The album’s gonna manifest itself. When the music is good, you don’t have to say much. All I got to say is, it comes out November the fourth.
So you won’t be gone ‘til November. Nah, nah, I’m back from November (laughing).
Who is featured on the album? I’ve got Scarface, Redman, Rah Digga, Patti Labelle, Carlos Santana, Monica, Buju Banton, Elephant Man, Wayne Wonder, so it’s like “Carnival” part two to me, it’s so musical. We got the joint with Missy, “Party Til Damascus,” that’s ripping through the industry right now.
How did you come up with the concept for the “Industry” video? Just the concept of being in a cab back before you had anything. And I usually be talking to the cab drivers, and them muthafuckers don’t be hearing shit I be saying but I still talk. So I’ve got an all-star cast for the video, and the interesting part was that everybody showed up.

Russel Simmons throws a bone at the hood every once in a while. Def Poetry is great. Not because of Russel Simmons really, but they do find some def def poets.
When Russel goes out and does some pro-education rally type stuff and brings the Def Jam majors with him to get people to start to think for a minute then I'm all for it.
But 90% of the time, everything out of his mouth I just ignore it.
His overall impact on the world is very, very sad as compared to what he has the ability to do. And that's not saying that I have any idea what he does and doesn't contribute to worthy causes, but he is just the biggest bullshit assembly line and Def Jam puts out nothing but noise, day in and day out. Useless as hell.

| Got phat bass lines like Russell Simmons steals $ |
|
True indeed that Russel Simmons is exploiting the hip-pop movement to phatten his pockets, but he is doing some things to keep it real on a much smaller scale. Like Def Poetry Jam on HBO. He is the producer and co-founder of the show that's hosted by Mos Def. The show primarily takes artists and poets that are pretty much underground and gives them a medium to express themselves in a tight forum with spoken word and lyrics. So at least he's not completely tied up in the exploitation of "lyrically garbage music" for the mass marketed MTV viewers. |

| Russel simmons- a greedy man |
In the case of Russel simmons, he is hardly promoting good music is he? He promotes music like Ja Rule, which degrades the communities and is all about sex, money, drugs etc. In his case, i think he probably is controlled by some freak, even so, he is a money grabber himself, he loves the smell of profits at the expense of the black community and poverty stricken communities. Whereas a decade ago Run DMC had positive music, nowadays Russel simmons is promoting music that is killing the real music.
And Russell simmons even has the nerve to criticize Mr Jackson, king of pop for not being "black enough". When's the last time Russell simmons pumped over $25 million of his own money into charity? Its actions that count, he should put his money where his mouth is.
He should be ashamed of what his record company is doing these days, shambolic music for the trash generation of pop rap who like Nelly eminem etc.
We know the truth, he just hasn't realised himself yet. |

| Indeed, Money makes the world go round! |
True True, it certainly would be very hard to turn down bags of money, you only have to look at Vanilla Ice, he's got bags of money just from that 1st cd which sold 10 million or so. But Wyclef seems to have taken it to a new level!
Honestly, in the last year he's been making crap music with rubbish artists like Brian Harvey from East 17, a crap pop group from UK, and another uk artist Beverley Knight who is ok but nothing special. He's hardly making music that matters unlike he was a few years ago. He needs a reality check.
I'd rather listen to Rage against the machine than most acts as at least they bring the real stuff to the public and make solid good music which people respect.
These days, the rubbish gangsta rap and money bling bling is all rubbish music like Ja rule dre, eminem etc.
If 2pac was alive today, his music would have put an end to all this rubbish music. At least his lyrics meant something to communities and still do. You can see how people are kissing ass so to speak, artists like Nas, Jay z using 2pac samples? whats going on?
Its time for some real music to be heard by the public, artists like Franti, dead prez, x clan and more.
sellouts are killing the music. |

| What if you had the chance to "sell out"? |
Yes indeed these artists "sold out". But now look at how their livin. If you were facing millions of dollars to sign the dotted line..it would be hard to turn it all down. Maybe you could do it for yourself, but what about your family and friends? Now these sell out artists own there own record labels and production companies and are multi million executives making their own decision(s) without the bowing down to "white executives" as you call it. (There are a lot of record label execs who are black...aka Russell Simmons, Suge Knight) |

Wyclef is a mother fucker who sold out a long time ago.
Bullshit music from a musician who likes to kiss record label executives arses.
Wyclef is a joke, he needs to get a life and make some decent music, not be a white boys pawn like he is now.
Fucking sellout, just like Ice cube, dre and all the others.
Fuck em all.
